True, my turban went to durban. Here’s what my friends, the Comries, had to report about our time together.
Nicodemus aka Steve Johnson in Durban
On the 19th November the Durban Church was given the opportunity to host Steve Johnson as Nicodemus. It was a last minute decision to use his last night in South Africa and have him visit Durban after his show in Johannesburg. With two weeks until the show, we still did not have a venue as our church venue was not suitable for a theatre production! Being the end of the year , venues were hard to come by, everything seemed booked and busy and expensive. God opened a door for us at another church’s venue with an auditorium seating 500 people and it was for free. However, for 75 disciples….500 seats were overwhelming!
We rallied, we prayed, we sold tickets and put up posters! God blessed our efforts and faith with over 350 ticket sales and over 300 in attendance. Another miracle we experienced was that on Monday the 19th, from 4am the electricity in the venue’s area was cut off. When we phoned the Municipality we were told that it had been cable theft at a substation. The power would be out until the Wednesday! We rallied and we prayed and….. God switched on the power at 4pm with our show starting at 7pm.
Steve was incredible, so inspiring to see the Bible living and active! The response of church members and visitors has been extremely positive and encouraging and all have asked when he is coming back to Durban…..we have a venue! Thank you Steve for your dedication and love for God and his Word and for your commitment to His Kingdom. The Lord enabled us to collect R6000 to donate to Steve for his wife’s cancer treatments. TO GOD BE THE GLORY
