we’re having a nice fall here in oregon. summer and drought has burned on long enough to almost make portlandia long for the rain to come. not me, i love summer, the warmth…sunshine. it could be summer all the time here far as i’m concerned but then, i guess that would make it california. so even if the signs of autumn are hints that the warmth is going to go away soon, the changing colors on the trees and in the gardens; falling leaves and gusts of wind, i’m enjoying the fall that’s in the air and i’m made aware that scareween is coming soon.
kylar invented the word scareween. he was in walgreens looking at all the candy and costumes, i think. to me, scareween makes a lot more sense and sums up the holiday perfectly. kylar is one of the joys for us here on peacock lane…us being skylar, lisa and me; and indy, our 100 pound dog. he’s our teen ministry leader’s son. they are family to us and as far as skylar is concerned her best friend in the world is going on 5. he’s always made up the coolest words and expressions. people don’t wave to greet him; “they’re hi-ing me!” he says. and when he was watching Brave and there was a scene of enormous cleavage he dubbed that part of anatomy the booby trap. from the mouths of babes…
he loves the dog. and watering my plants. and lately, climbing trees. and nothing makes me happier then seeing lisa and him together. he loves going up to the ‘toy room’ and having lisa read books to him. she kind of likes it, too. the little boy down the road is a joy to behold and i hope he comes by to see me today.
